SPAIN's leading marine and port terminal operator Grup TCB has started operations at the container terminal, TCBuen, in the city of Buenaventura, Colombia with an annual volume of 260,000 TEU.

The Maersk Line's 5,900-TEU Rio Verde was the first ship handled at the latest terminal development from Spain's Terminal de Contenedores de Barcelona (TCB) with 819 boxes discharged and 800 loaded, reports American Shipper.

It benefits from the country's export trade which totals 80 per cent of its coffee, and 60 per cent of all foreign shipments from the port and its prime location on the Pacific Coast and close-by Panama Canal.

The terminal adds to the Barcelona-based port operator's current portfolio of 13 terminals in six countries of overall capacity 4.5 million TEU.
