Kuehne + Nagel CEO Lange named Manager of the Year

REINHARD LANGE, CEO of Kuehne + Nagel International, has been named Manager of the Year by German trade magazine DVZ (Deutsche Verkehrs-Zeitung).


Mr Lange was awarded the LEO prize, which stands for Logistics, Excellence, Optimisation that is presented annually to "acclaimed personalities in the logistics industry," a company statement said.


"According to the independent jury, Reinhard Lange steered the company successfully through the challenging 2009-2010 period. His achievements are reflected in Kuehne + Nagel's results in the crisis year and during the first nine months of 2010," it said.


"In addition, the jury emphasised Lange's management capabilities, entrepreneurial spirit and his thorough industry knowledge, as well as his ability to motivate and lead employees across Kuehne + Nagel's global organisation."


Mr Lange has been employed by Kuehne + Nagel for almost 40 years and assumed the position of CEO in 2009. The company added that he has held a wide variety of global managerial roles after completing an apprenticeship in the forwarding industry.
