Ford Motor Company Brazil has honored WABCO with Ford’s 2010 Environmental Conservation Award. It recognizes WABCO’s contribution as a supplier for series production of Ford’s medium and heavy duty trucks.

Ford is one of the major manufacturers of commercial vehicles in Brazil and a global automotive industry leader which manufactures and distributes vehicles across six continents with about 70 plants worldwide.

WABCO Brazil won Ford’s 2010 award in the supplier category for WABCO’s advanced environmental conservation in production processes, including continuous research, development and robust actions that extend beyond Ford South America and benefit society.

“It is a pleasure to recognize individuals and institutional actions at the forefront of conservation work in Brazil, showing new ways for sustainable development and helping to spread environmental awareness,” said Marcos de Oliveira, President of Ford Brazil and Mercosur (Southern Common Market). “Sustainability is a priority for Ford and suppliers are an important part of our value chain. We will keep encouraging preservationist actions because concern for the environment is not only critical for doing good business but also for contributing to a better world.”

“WABCO is proud to be recognized with Ford’s top environmental conservation award in Brazil as we support their drive for outstanding economic, environment and social performance,” said Jacques Esculier, WABCO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We also reaffirm our commitment to constantly enhance manufacturing processes as we continue to progress successfully along Ford’s path to green production.”

Ford Motor Company’s Environmental Conservation Award is presented annually and reported to be one of the Brazilian automotive industry’s most acclaimed sustainability acknowledgements. In 2009, Ford judges included WABCO Brazil among their top three suppliers.

“Ford’s 2010 award represents a major achievement for our environmental protection capabilities in Brazil, demonstrating that Ford Brazil highly values WABCO’s innovative engineering in ways that benefit the environment, increase vehicle safety and improve product quality,” said Reynaldo Contreira, WABCO South America Business Leader. “Indeed, we are proud because winning this award in 2010 also marks the second year in a row that Ford honors WABCO’sgreen contribution in Brazil.”
