AAT handles 39pc more cargo to 715,016 tonnes in 2010

HONG KONG airport's No 2 ground handler, Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT) handled 39 per cent more cargo in 2010 to 715,016 tonnes, the company announced.


Total export for 2010 was 509,534 tonnes, up 46 per cent year on year, while total import was 199,920 tonnes, up 24 per cent. The aggregate transshipment volume was 5,562 tonnes in 2010, rose 21 per cent year on year.


In December, its throughput rose 24 per cent year on year to 67,103 tonnes.


Export cargo in December increased 21 per cent to 46,617 tonnes compared to the same period the previous year, while import cargo grew 29 per cent to 19,700 tonnes. Transshipment volume soared 204 per cent year on year to 786 tonnes.


"AAT cargo throughput achieved a new record high in 2010, and I am glad that service standards continues to surpass industry standards," said AAT general manager for corporate development Nelson Lee.
