THE combined consolidated revenue passenger miles of United and Continental airlines in December increased 1.4 per cent over December 2009 on a consolidated capacity increase of 2.3 per cent.
But their combined load factor fell 0.7 points from December 2009, parent United Continental Holdings has reported.
The two airlines' December 2010 consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased about 7.5 to 8.5 per cent compared to December 2009, while mainline PRASM increased about 8.5 to 9.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Snowstorms in December resulted in an estimated US$25 million decline in consolidated passenger revenue and a $10 million reduction in net earnings for the fourth quarter.
