Singapore Changi Airport welcomes Hong Kong Airlines

HONG KONG AIRLINES will operate both freight and passenger services from Singapore's Changi Airport from mid-January to become the second carrier to operate passenger services to Changi, and the first to start air cargo services this year.


Hong Kong Airlines will operate a daily passenger service on Airbus A332 aircraft (in a two-class configuration) as well as four-weekly freighter services on Airbus A332F aircraft. The daily passenger service will depart from Hong Kong to Singapore at 1150 hrs and arriving at 1535 hrs deploying an A332 aircraft, returning at 1640 hrs and arriving at 2015 hrs.


The freighter service, with a capacity of 64 tonnes, will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays deploying an A332F with departures from Hong Kong 0800 hrs arriving at 1145 hrs and returning at 1315 hrs, arriving at 1700 hrs.


In the first 11 months of 2010, cargo throughput between Singapore and Hong Kong rose 16 per cent, with some 157,000 tonnes moved. During the same period passenger traffic on this route rose more than 24 per cent to 2.55 million, compared to year previous said a company statement.


With the addition of Hong Kong Airlines, the Singapore and Hong Kong route will be served by some 270 passenger flights and 50 freighter flights each week.
