China Eastern expects 10-fold profit increase

Jan 7, 2011 Logistics

Hong Kong-listed China Eastern Airlines said it 2010 net profit would be around 10 times that of a year earlier, partly due to a rapid recovery in global air traffic demand.

The Shanghai-based carrier said in a statement the profit jump was also due to the Shanghai World Expo, which boosted air passenger travel, and the completion of its acquisition of rival Shanghai Airlines in January 2010.

China Eastern said its 2009 net profit was US$81 million.
