Deutsche Post happy with 2010 business

Jan 7, 2011 Logistics

German mailing and logistics company Deutsche Post AG is satisfied with its 2010 performance, German regional daily Leipziger Volkszeitung reported today, citing chief executive Frank Appel.

Business volumes have recovered with strong economic growth in 2010, Appel told the paper.

The positive trend in particular benefited logistics unit DHL, which for the first time made a bigger profit than the mailing business, Appel said.

The importance of DHL for the group will increase further in the future, he added.

Deutsche Post has improved its cost structure, bundled capacities and streamlined business structures. "We're even better off than two years ago," Appel said.

Deutsche Post will publish its results in March.
