FEDEX Express has started a new direct service between India and its Asia-Pacific hub at Guangzhou's Baiyun International Airport.
FedEx has operated a direct New Delhi-Shanghai flight since 2005. The new A310 flight connects Guangzhou with Mumbai, India's commercial capital, and New Delhi five times a week.
Despite the recent economic downturn, China's 2010 GDP growth is anticipated at 10 per cent while India's is expected to grow 8.8 per cent this year.
"This new service signifies FedEx's commitment to continue investing in areas that not only address customer demand, but support trade growth in the Asia-Pacific region and India," said David Cunningham, president (Asia Pacific) of FedEx Express.
"Coupled with our fast, reliable delivery, the additional Asia-India flights will help businesses offer superior value and service to their customers, enabling greater access to two of the rapidly developing markets in the world," he added.
