Jan 4, 2011 Logistics

Sharjah-based Gulftainer has been recommended by DNV for certification to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

The scope of the certification covers Port Management and Operations Services, including associated services such as Container Repair, Transport, Logistics and Logistics Centres Management/ Operations, Freight Forwarding and Contract Logistics.

Gulftainer Group managing director Peter Richards said: “As major port operators and managers of container terminals with extensive transport and logistics activities, Gulftainer has always insisted on and maintained the highest standards in all areas, including health and safety. We take these issues very seriously, and certified training and safety officers are employed to train and develop staff throughout their careers, and also to ensure that systems are in place to promote safe working practices.”

Richards said the certification was a vindication of the efforts the company had put into the HSQE policies over many years.

“However it is always useful to have impartial professionals assessing our policies,” he said.
