FOLLOWING investment by several carriers, Shanghai-based Air China Cargo (ACC) will double flights between Shanghai and Tokyo's Narita airport to four a week from January.
Frequency will increase from its usual Tuesday and Saturday flights deploying a 747-400 carrying 110 tons begun in late October to Thursdays and Fridays from January 13 to meet rising demand between the cities, currently is up to 90 per cent capacity from Shanghai and 70 per cent on the return leg.
ACC will add more flights to its scheduled six flights between Kansai International Airport to Shanghai and Beijing.
With the refocus by Japan major air carriers away from cargo there is little competition for ACC from restructuring Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways focus on more profitable routes from its Okinawa base.
