Air India in talks with Dublin Airport Authority about operating flights to US

Dec 23, 2010 Logistics

AIR INDIA has been holding talks with Ireland's Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) with regards to operating flights to the United States from its newly opened Terminal 2 (T2) facility.

According to DAA chief executive Declan Collier the "detailed negotiations" on using the airport as a hub for Air India's flights to the US were "progressing well," reports The Irish Times.

Mr Collier was cited as saying that the DAA was also "talking to some other Asian airlines in China and South East Asia" about using T2, and there had also been "huge interest" from some Gulf airlines in the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities that would open in January, 2011 at Dublin Airport, the report said.

It said CBP will allow passengers travelling from T2 to arrive in the US as domestic passengers, enabling them to avoid long immigration queues. No other country in Europe, apart from Ireland, presently offers such a facility.
