AIR Seychelles has appointed German ULD management expert Jettainer to globally manage the airline's global ULD fleet as of January, 1 2011 following the signing of a memorandum of understanding effective over a period of five years.
"We are proud about Air Seychelles' decision and their trust in our team. Together we push the door open towards further expansion on the African continent." said Jettainer MD Alexander Placher in a statement. "It is an important milestone for Jettainer to be present in Africa."
Air Seychelles is amongst the few airlines using a unique concept for its LD2 Containers of asymmetrical containers with doors at either the left or right hand side. This way, the airline can pair containers the way they will be loaded into the aircraft's belly.
"Air Seychelles has selected Jettainer for its future ULD Services requirements due to the unique combination of ULD pooling with airline co-branding, which allows Airlines and Handling Agents improved control over ULD stock movements and location," said Gerold Tumulka, Air Seychelles director of ground operation, the twelfth customer addition to company based near Frankfurt Airport.
Air Seychelles operates five Boeing 767 aircraft on its international network and is preparing for the introduction of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Jettainer GmbH, a leading international service partner for outsourced ULD management provides customers with a web-based application "management cockpit" to oversee their ULD pool. The company is located in Raunheim, Germany with branches in Chicago, Philadelphia, Rome and Zurich. It currently manages over 80.000 ULD units at about 500 locations worldwide.
