IBERIA CARGO has become the 29th international air freight carrier to join Cargo 2000's quality management system as part of the transport provider's commitment to constant improvement.
Juan Ignacio Diez Barturen, senior vice president of Iberia Cargo, said: "Iberia Cargo decided to join Cargo 2000 because quality measurement is the base for improvement and to do it to a shared and common standard with our partners is a must. Cargo 2000 is the 'standard' that is well recognised in the sector and has been developed by the industry for the industry and with a clear focus on process improvements."
Iberia Cargo operates services between Europe and Latin America. The airline transports more than 240,000 tonnes of freight per year.
In total, Cargo 2000's membership is now at its highest ever level with 76 members including major airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, trucking companies and IT providers, a company statement said.
Lothar Moehle, regional director, Europe, Middle East and Africa for Cargo 2000, said: "Iberia Cargo's strong presence in the Latin America market will further extend the geographical awareness of Cargo 2000 and build on our current activities in the Americas.
"Our quality programme is firmly established as helping our members improve reliability, increase productivity, achieve cost efficiencies and enhance their reputation with customers around the world."
