A CATHAY PACIFIC 747 with 306 passengers and 20 crew made an emergency landing at Karaganda airport in Kazakhstan after cabin pressure began to fail.
Flight CX270 from Amsterdam to Hong Kong experienced "a fault in the cabin pressurisation system" six hours into the flight on Sunday, reported the Hong Kong Standard.
Oxygen masks were deployed and the flight was diverted to the nearest airport, which was Karaganda. State broadcaster RTHK said reports from Kazakhstan indicated the cabin of the aircraft lost pressure.
An engineer was dispatched on a special flight, which brought back the passengers and crew to Hong Kong, while the problem was repaired the aircraft returned empty.
Passengers spent four hours on the aircraft before they could disembark, because of visa problems.
