SOUTHWESTERN China's Guangxi has started building a railway station at the Sino-Vietnamese border checkpoint Jingxi, marking the soon completion of the mid-section of the second railway linking China and Vietnam, Xinhua reported.
The second Sino-Vietnamese railway has three sections, Tiandong to Debao, Debao to Jingxi and Jingxi to Longbang. The Debao-Jingxi section covers 44 kilometres, with a design speed of 120 kilometres per hour. Construction is to last two years with the last spike being driven in February. This section will be mainly used for cargo transport.
Guangxi plans to build three rail routes connecting China, Vietnam and Singapore which are its east, central, and western sections. The first is from Pingxiang to Vietnam. The first section of the second line, from Tiandong to Debao, is already open to traffic.
