EASTERN China's Hefei, an inland city of 4.9 million, 500 kilometres west of Shanghai, will spend CNY10 billion (US$1.5 billion) on building an airport logistics park to accompany projected new airport, Xinhua reported.
Hefei Xinqiao International Airport will be completed and open in May 2012. To catch up with the demand for logistics, once the airport is up and running, the city plans to build a 300,000-square metre facility providing services for air cargo.
The first phase of the facility will cover an area of seven square kilometres, costing CNY10 billion, inviting air and ground logistics operators and warehousing service providers to open branches inside.
