China Eastern signs US$1.2 billion Rolls-Royce deal

SHANGHAI-based China Eastern Airlines has signed a US$1.2 billion deal with British jet engine maker Rolls Royce, reported Xinhua.


Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and British Prime Minister David Cameron witnessed the contract signing during the British leader's official visit to China.


According to the agreement, Rolls-Royce will sell China Eastern engines for 16 Airbus-330-200 jets. It also agreed to provide oil consumption minimisation systems to the airline.
