Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) today released its tonnage figures for April 2008. A total of 225,660 tonnes were handled in April, representing a 6.3% year-on-year growth. Cumulative tonnage for the first four months of the year was 840,193 tonnes, up 6.5% year-on-year.
Hactl continued to maintain a steady cargo growth over the past few months albeit signs of moderation of the global economy. Export volume in April registered a 5.2% growth on a year-on-year basis to 126,834 tonnes. Aggregate export volume for the first four months was 457,524 tonnes, up 5.1% compared with the same period last year.
Import volume for April and for the first four months were 57,823 tonnes and 221,243 tonnes respectively, up 7.1% and 2.4% year-on-year for the respective periods.
The transshipment volume was 41,003 tonnes in April, with a year-on-year growth of 8.4%. Total transshipment volume for the first four months was 161,426 tonnes, up 16.9% against the same period last year.
