AAT's throughput up 26pc to 64,877 tonnes in October

ASIA Airfreight Terminal (AAT), Hong Kong's No 2 ground handler, cargo volume increased 26 per cent to 64,877 tonnes in October year on year, said a company announcement.


Exports were up 30 per cent to 46,950 tonnes year on year. Imports rose 16 per cent to 17,480 tonnes and transshipments increased 25 per cent to 477 tonnes.


Cumulative export tonnage from January to October was 410,736 tonnes, representing a 54 per cent year-on-year growth. Imports increased 23 per cent to 163,887 tonnes in the first 10 months year on year. Transshipment cargo volume reached 4,226 tonnes for the first 10 months of the year, up four per cent year on year.


"We are glad that the tonnage handled in the month of October has reached a record high. However, the pace of tonnage growth is slowing. Nevertheless, AAT will continue to strive for excellence and contribute positively to anchor Hong Kong's position as a leading cargo hub of for the region," said AAT corporate development manager Nelson Lee.
