CHINA and Latin America have been key drivers of air cargo growth since the downturn, but the crisis is not over with an uncertain year expected, according to a delegate consensus at the International Air Cargo Forum and Exposition in Amsterdam.
Delegates spoke of a surprising recovery in 2010 with carriers such as Emirate Airline seeing 23.5 per cent grown in July with Duesseldorf airport-based DUS Cargo Logistics enjoying a 45 per cent hike year on year.
The recovery is remarkable, said Air France-KLM sales manager Maurice van der Velde. "We have very good quarters at the beginning of this year, and now it's steady, hopefully the future will be positive again. But nobody is sure."
The forum covered developments of e-freight, air cargo screening and collaboration with ground handlers to extend the market further and improve customer services.
