DUTCH logistics provided CEVA has renewed a three-year EUR2.5 million (US$3.44 million) annual contract with German household appliance-maker Miele to handle inbound logistics, warehousing, orders, processing and distribution throughout Italy.

CEVA will continue to provide Miele with integrated logistics services for refrigerators, ovens and dishwashers, and for professional equipment, such as mangles, industrial washing machines and tumble dryers.

CEVA will use Spedimacc. Every year, the logistics operator will manage 120,000 items within the warehouse at Pognano, near Bergamo, where the customer will have 9,000 square metres dedicated to their products.

Following a 10-year partnership Miele wishes to maintain the support of CEVA's extensive network said Miele trade marketing director Ornella Pippa. "Our end customers are extremely satisfied because our supply chain is efficient and flexible, deliveries are punctual, and we have a constant monitoring of the progress of the orders."

CEVA president Gianfranco Sgro said the service has been helped by its collaboration with Spedimacc, a leading technical courier begun in 2008 which helps to distribute the products globally and also for special deliveries.

"The large network of warehouses across the country, the expertise of our team and the high level of customisation of our logistics solutions will enable us to continue providing exceptional service to Miele," he said in a company statement.

Miele, a family-run business, employs 15,000 with more than 10,000 in Germany within 37 branches in 37 countries. Production is mostly in Germany, in eight factories, but there is also one in Austria, one in the Czech Republic and one in China.
