Changi Airport officially opened its multi-media entertainment zone – the Entertainment Deck – today. The one-stop integrated entertainment
zone is located on the third level of Terminal 2’s Departure Transit Mall. It features a free LAN gaming room, Xbox® 360 and Playstation® 3 game consoles, cosy music corners, a
free movie theatre and even a comics and games collectibles shop. The ceremony was officiated by Mr Lim Kim Choon, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).
For passengers who are into online and computer gaming, the free LAN gaming room with games like FIFA® 2008 and MapleStory, will be a popular hangout.
There are also Xbox® 360 and Playstation® 3 games like Virtual Fighter and Halo 3. Music lovers can lounge and relax in the cosy music booths with built-in speakers to watch music videos or listen to selected jazz, bossa nova or lounge tracks from the music system.
To complement the multi-media content in the Entertainment Deck, there is a comics and games collectibles shop that retails manga (Japanese comics), graphic novels, gaming manuals and fantasy books, among other offerings.
Mr Lim said, “The Entertainment Deck was conceptualised to converge various popular multi-media facilities into one dedicated area for passengers.
As travellers ourselves, we understand how passengers appreciate the range of complimentary facilities available in Changi Airport. The Entertainment Deck is part of CAAS’ efforts to constantly review and upgrade facilities to enhance the ‘Changi Experience’.”
As part of the launch, eight passengers were invited to participate in a face-off on Playstation’s® FIFA®. The winner walked away with a Playstation® 3 game console and the first runner-up was rewarded with a PSP (Playstation® Portable).
