The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has reacted to the government's proposal to reduce funding of railway operations, maintenance and new investments by SEK 500mn (EUR 53.56mn USD 73.85mn) a year, according to Logistics Finland. Instead government has proposed increased funding for road investments. According to the Transport Administration however, maintenance needs for the railway are urgent whereas road investments can wait. Chairman Acko Ankarberg Johansson argues that the Transport Administration should be free to invest its grants as it sees fit, without the direct involvement of government.
