Lorries to face additional charge

Oct 28, 2010 Logistics

According to IFW, the EU Eurovignette Directive will allow some EU states to charge between EUR 0.03 (USD 0.04) and EUR 0.04 per kilometre in addition to the existing toll rate of between EUR 0.15 and EUR 0.20 for lorries above 3.5 tonnes. EU states will also be able to increase tolls by up to 175% in peak hours, provided that they decrease tolls by an equal amount in off-peak hours. The Euro 0 lorries will have to pay more than the less-polluting Euro V and Euro VI lorries. The European Shippers' Council and International Road Transport Union said that the plan will hurt the economy, Logistics Finland informs.
