TIANJIN Airlines, a regional carrier set up by Hainan Airlines Group and the Tianjin city government, has launched its first international service to the Outer Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator, reports Xinhua.

Flying by a Brazilian made ERJ-190 aircraft and stopping over in Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the airline offers this two-hour-50-minute journey twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Tianjin is the nearest seaport to Mongolia. According to the website of China Civil Aviation Resources, all of Mongolia's marine cargo is handled via Tianjin port.

The airline started operating domestic trunk routes and some regular passenger and cargo flights to Hong Kong, Macau and surrounding foreign countries in June.

So far, it has launched 130 domestic air routes, most of which are branch lines operated by small aircraft such as Fairchild-Dornnier 328, ERJ-145 and ERJ-190.
