ORIENT International Logistics, a state-owned Shanghai logistics company, has opened its facility at Shanghai's Yangshan Deepwater Port, bringing the company's capacity in Shanghai to 400,000 TEU a year, reports the China Daily.
The first phase of the centre features a 16,000-square-metre warehouse, which can handle 2,400 TEU. Investment in the centre's first phase totalled CNY100 million (US$15 million). The company is seeking partners to develop Phase 2.
It is expected to handle 5,000 TEU a month after the completion of the second phase.
At present, the facility warehouses and packages cargo from domestic customers, mainly textiles, machinery parts and handicrafts, and delivers them to Europe and the US.
