Chongqing airport capacity to hit 450,000 tonnes by 2015

CHONGQING airport plans to raise its annual capacity to 450,000 tonnes of cargo and 30 million passengers and 263,000 flights by 2015.

By 2020, the airport's capacity is expected to increase to three million tonnes and 70 million passengers, Xinhua reported.

The airport's 3,600-metre second runway has been completed, while the T2A terminal, covering nearly 100,000-square metre, will be finished by this week. The whole project of the third phase expansion is expected to be completed by year's end.

The fourth phase of the airport expansion will begin next year. The project includes a new runway of 3,800 metres, a terminal at the east wing of the airport and a logistics facility.
