Lufthansa Cargo Charter has appointed Volker Dunkake Head of Global Sales and Services, effective 1 May 2008.
Volker Dunkake will be responsible for the coordination and management of the company’s global sales and marketing activities. He will supervise Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency’s existing Competence Centres in Frankfurt, Chicago, Hong Kong and Dubai and also develop new business areas with the respective teams.
Volker Dunkake has extensive knowledge of the air cargo industry. A qualified logistics specialist with a degree in Economics, he began his Lufthansa career in 1989 in the Cargo Handling unit at Lufthansa Cargo. In 1999 he moved to Lufthansa Cargo’s charter team. Following the founding of Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency in 2001, he assumed responsibility for the Finance and Administration division. In 2003, he was placed in charge of the Airline Management Team. Two years later, Volker Dunkake was granted power of attorney.
On 1 June 2008, Simone Schweitzer will take over as Head of Finance and Administration. After receiving a degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Business Administration, she accepted the position of Project Controller at Siemens Power Generation and in 2000 joined the Controlling division at Lufthansa Systems. Simone Schweitzer currently heads the Internal Accounting division of the Lufthansa Systems Group.
