Oct 14, 2010 Logistics

DB SCHENKER LOGISTICS in Singapore has celebrated its 40th anniversary during which time the company has grown from being the first European air freight forwarder to serve South Asia to become an integrated logistics provider, with a team of more than 1,250 employees.

Highlights include in 1998 investment of US$29 million to set up the multifunctional Schenker Logistics Centre. The DB Schenker Megahub was established in 2006. Located within the Free Trade Zone, it is the biggest freight and logistics facility in the Airport Logistics Park of Singapore. These flagship facilities form the basis of the company's logistics hub for the Asia Pacific region.

The year 2007 proved another milestone in the development of Schenker Singapore (Pte) Ltd when in May of that year the BAX Global Pte Ltd Singapore office successfully merged operations with DB Schenker Logistics in Singapore.

"The successful history of our subsidiary is a good example, a role model for other countries, in all growth regions throughout the world," said Dr Thomas Lieb, chairman of the board of management at Schenker AG and responsible for global air and ocean freight. "And we will make sure that this success story will continue. Singapore will be a focal point within our network and especially regarding our services for the global healthcare industries."

Nowadays, DB Schenker Logistics in Singapore has 15 office and warehouse locations, with about 178,000 square metres of modern warehousing space.
