United Continental sees higher load factor in September

NEWLY merged United Continental Holdings Inc, formerly UAL Corporation, has announced that Continental Airlines and United Air Lines are now wholly-owned subsidiaries of United Continental Holdings.


United's consolidated traffic (revenue passenger miles) in September rose by 7.6 per cent compared to the same month last year on a consolidated capacity increase of 4.4 per cent. United's consolidated load factor grew by 2.5 points compared to the same period last year.


For September, consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile (RASM) for United is estimated to have increased between 13.5 and 14.5 per cent compared to September 2009, while United's mainline RASM is estimated to have risen between 14.0 and 15.0 per cent compared to last year.


United ended the third quarter with an unrestricted cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments balance of US$4.9 billion, said a company statement posted on Business Wire.
