CHINA'S northernmost coastal province Liaoning has seen its expressways lengthened to a total of 3,000 kilometres with the opening of the Shenyang-Jilin expressway Caoshi-Nanzamu section and Dandong-Xilinhot expressway Chaoyang-Heishui section, Xinhua reported.
Provincial transport director Zhang Tiemin said expressway distribution in the province is now 2.07 kilometres per 100 square kilometres of territory, close to that of a fully developed country.
From 2006 to 2010, highways in Liaoning have been lengthened nearly 1,300 kilometres with 1,100 kilometres still under construction. Today, expressway lengths and distribution exceed those of South Korea.
From 2011 to 2015, a trunk highway network will be built in Liaoning and the province will focus on improving road services, Mr Zhang said.
