ASIA Airfreight Terminal (AAT), Hong Kong's No 2 ground handler, cargo volume increased 31 per cent to 61,725 tonnes in September year on year, said a company announcement.
Exports were up 34 per cent to 44,062 tonnes year on year. Imports rose 24 per cent to 17,151 tonnes and transshipments increased 55 per cent to 512 tonnes.
Cumulative export tonnage from January to September was 363,786 tonnes, representing a 58 per cent year-on-year growth. Imports increased 24 per cent to 146,408 tonnes in the first nine months year on year. Transshipment volume reached 3,779 tonnes for the first nine months of the year, up two per cent year on year.
"Looking forward, we would expect throughput growth to sustain its momentum towards the year-end," said AAT corporate development manager Nelson Lee.
