US AIRCRAFT manufacturer Boeing has sold Chinese flag carrier Air China four 777-300ERs (Extended Range) for a total of US$1.1 billion at list prices.
"Today's order of 777s also underscores Air China's confidence in the world's most successful twin-engine, long-haul airplane," said Marlin Dailey, vice president of sales and marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Air China said it will use the aircraft to expand international routes.
"The 777-300ER will be the backbone of our long-haul international fleet," said Air China vice president Fan Cheng. "The aircraft's high efficiency and performance features will enable Air China to launch more direct long-haul routes to meet the increasing demand of our passengers."
Boeing said the 777-300ER extends the 777 aircraft span of range and payload capabilities, bringing twin-engine efficiency and reliability to the long-range market with improvements to drag and weight. The aircraft carries 365 passengers 7,930 nautical miles (14,685 kilometres).
