Sep 29, 2010 Logistics

United Parcel Service (UPS) plans to apply this week for a domestic license from China's State Post Bureau, the Financial Times reported.

The company plans to offer next-day delivery and second and third day delivery services.

"The opportunities are tremendous," UPS International president Dan Brutto told the newspaper.

"If you take a look at the growing middle class, in the future the domestic market is going to be worth billions."

The Chinese market could reach as much as five million packages a day, he said.
