NETHERLANDS based CEVA Logistics has gained a three-year contract to provide a warehousing and transport solution to Wales and West Utilities (WWU), a regulated gas distribution business with 35,000 kilometres of pipeline in Wales and south west England.
Following a competitive tender, CEVA is now responsible for managing a central distribution centre in Cardiff, which holds engineering materials and stock, including pipes, valves and fittings. In addition to this, CEVA will collect and distribute products from suppliers, delivering into WWU's depots and direct to engineers, at point of use.
"As part of the tender process we visited some of CEVA's utility operations and were impressed with their capability and professionalism at all levels. We look forward to seeing continuous improvements across our supply chain as a result of CEVA's appointment," said WWU supply chain manager Andrew Studley.
