GEORGIA's World Airways has signed an agreement with Shenzhen's Jade Cargo International to operate a Boeing 747-400 full-time between Shanghai, Yantai and Chicago.
Once the service starts in October, the three weekly flights will then continue to Amsterdam and return to Shanghai on a round-the-world flight pattern.
"World Airways is proud to become a service provider for Jade Cargo, a well known, quality cargo carrier, and we look forward to a strong business relationship," said Brian Bauer, CCO for parent company Global Aviation Holdings.
World recently announced a significant increase in cargo fleet capacity with the addition of two Boeing 747-400 freighters, which will bring World's 747-400 fleet to four aircraft, in addition to nine MD-11 freighters.
Jade Cargo International Company Ltd was founded in October 2004 as a joint venture between Shenzhen Airlines (51 per cent), Lufthansa Cargo AG (25 per cent) and the German development finance institute DEG-Deutsche Investitions - und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (24 per cent).
