INCREASES in air and sea cargo is up, bringing jobs back to Toledo, Ohio, reports local WTOL Television.
Air cargo handling at Toledo Express airport is up five per cent compared to last year and seaport cargo business has increased 34 per cent this year, he said.
"That means jobs for longshoremen that were laid off last year and are able to come back to work," said Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority president Paul Toth, adding that more goods and materials are moving through the area by ship and by air.
Most of the increased shipping activity is coal and iron ore. Mr Toth said it's an indication steel mills are back in production. "We're really looking for a strong fall and a lot of business on the books," he said.
