WUHAN rail container hub in central China's Hubei province has been put into operation, so that logistics cost is to be reduced and the city's transport role enhanced, reports Xinhua.
The US$102.3 million facility, one of the 18 hubs to be built in China, occupies a site of 134.6 hectares with a annual capacity of 1.6 million TEU and is close to the Wuhan Bonded Logistics Centre with rail network covering nationwide.
The rail container hub began constructions in September 2008 and was completed with operation approval in August this year. It will facilitate the cargo transport to neighbouring ports and airports by sea-rail and air-rail transport.
