USA TRUCK INC has entered into a long-term agreement with the BNSF railway to move private 53-foot domestic intermodal containers.
This development comes as USA Truck saw intermodal revenues increase by 50 per cent during the first half of 2010 compared to the same period last year. Most revenue was derived from its trailer-on-flat-car service.
The addition of private containers offers the company an opportunity to continue its growth in the intermodal marketplace and to offer customers additional transport solutions, the company said in a statement posted on PRNewswire.
"We believe these private containers will provide a much needed additional source of environmentally-friendly and cost-efficient capacity to our customers, and an additional avenue for us to further diversify our business model," said Cliff Beckham, the company's president and chief executive officer.
