FLIGHTS between Newark Liberty and Athens airports offered by Continental Airlines and Aegean Airlines started to codeshare from August 23.
Continental's "CO" code will be placed on its Star Alliance Greek partner Aegean Airlines' operated flights between Greece's capital Athens and local holiday destinations of Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini and Chania as well as between Athens and Larnaca, Cyprus from August 23.
Continental will also codeshare on Aegean's flights between Athens and London's Heathrow Airport and Munich and Frankfurt in Germany from an unspecified date in the future. Its codeshare on Aegean flights between Athens and Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and Fiumicino in Rome await government sanction.
Said Continental's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Jim Compton: "Continental is delighted to partner with Aegean Airlines. The agreement will offer our US-originating customers seamless access, via Athens, to many of Greece's most popular destinations, as well as increasing travel options for our Greek customers."
Said Aegean Airlines CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis: "Thanks to this new partnership with Continental Airlines we can now offer Greek passengers a great travel solution to New York. This is another example of the many new advantages our recent Star Alliance membership offers our passengers."
