Boeing to build defence manufacturing site in St Louis

Aug 23, 2010 Logistics

CHICAGO-BASED Boeing has announced that it will establish a manufacturing plant at MidAmerica St Louis Airport in south western Illinois by the end of year or early next to support its defence programme.

Supported by the Illinois governor, the state is providing Boeing US$2.3 million, $2 million of which comes in tax credits over 10 years.

The facility is close to Boeing's headquarters for defence business in St Louis, Missouri, where the company builds its F/A-18, F-15 and C17 aircraft. Boeing can thus expand this high-value business by sharing the skilled workforce and infrastructure.
