US air cargo market declined 12pc in 2009

AIR cargo traffic of US domestic market contracted 12 per cent in 2009, which was the largest year on year decrease in the industry, reported by the Air Transport Association of America (ATA).

The industry's operating revenues were also down 16.9 per cent to US$155 billion last year. This represents a decrease over two consecutive years, and the industry losses deteriorated to $58 billion over a nine-year period starting in 2001.
