Russian air transport specialist Volga-Dnepr Group said it is participating in a working group to help plan an air cargo hub in Havana, Cuba.
The panel, organized by the Russian and Cuban governments, is analyzing air cargo flows from the Americas to all parts of the world and the potential for increased efficiency from having a hub at Jose Marti Airport. A positive determination could lead to construction of an air cargo facility by 2011.
For its part, Volga-Dnepr will study whether flight operations to Havana by charter airline Volga-Dnepr Airlines and scheduled airline AirBridge Cargo are commercially viable.
