Schenker Logistics to build terminal at Austria's Klagenfurt airport

Aug 10, 2010 Logistics

DB SCHENKER LOGISTICS is investing in a ultra-modern logistics terminal at the airport in Klagenfurt, Austria, at a cost of around EUR10 million (US$13.29 million) intending to use the new terminal to expand its position in European land transport on the regional Carinthia market.

The forwarding facility is being erected on 30,500 square metres that will consist of a 2,500-square metre transshipment hall, a logistics warehouse of 1,800 square metres and a 1,200-square metre office building designed to accommodate 130 employees.

The terminal will have its own rail siding. This means that in Klagenfurt, DB Schenker will now be in a position to seamlessly integrate rail into its customers' supply chain needs, said a company statement.

The new terminal has become necessary because of volume increases over the last few years and should be operational by 2011, said the company.
