Boeing loses orders for 15 787s, 10 777s

Aug 9, 2010 Logistics

Boeing Co has lost 25 orders previously booked for its 777 and 787 aircraft in the week to August 3, reported Dow Jones Newswires.

The revival in airline industry finances and a splurge of orders from leasing companies at the recent Farnborough International Air Show have accelerated the churn in Boeing's commercial aircraft backlog.

The latest cancellations are likely to free up delivery slots for other customers, with some models already sold out through 2013 despite plans to boost output from next year.

People familiar with the situation said some of the latest order cancellations were from DAE Capital, the state-controlled Dubai leasing company.

Boeing has now lost more orders for 787s this year than it has gained, for a net loss of four aircraft. It has booked 319 orders for all aircraft types so far this year and cancelled 64.
