Geodis gets nod to buy road freight firm

Jul 19, 2010 Logistics

The European Commission cleared French transport and logistics provider Geodis, owned by France's national railroad company SNCF, to buy the southern and northern European operations of French freight transport company Giraud International, Dow Jones reported.

The deal follows Geodis' purchase of Giraud's steel unit and operations in central and eastern Europe last year. It will allow Geodis to expand its transport of full and partial truckholds into other European countries, particularly Spain.
