Airbus won 117 plane orders in first half

Airbus sold 131 aircraft in the first half of the year, or a net total of 117 planes after adjusting for cancellations, Reuters reported.

The European planemaker also said it had delivered 250 aircraft in the first six months of the year, including seven A380 superjumbos.

The company's latest order book shows that it received six cancellations of A330-300 wide-body jets in June, of which Finnish carrier Finnair accounted for two. Airbus did not name the airline which cancelled the other four A330s but there have been industry expectations that Bahrain-based Gulf Air would trim its order for 20 A330s by four aircraft as it expands its fleet of smaller A320-family planes.

Airbus's latest order figures show that Dubai's DAE Capital, which says it is renegotiating aircraft orders with both Airbus and Boeing, has so far left its order for 100 Airbus planes intact.
