WORLD AIRWAYS has expanded its cooperation with ANA-Allied Air Cargo to include a second MD-11 Freighter for service between Europe and various cities in Africa until December 2011.

Atlanta-based World Airways, a subsidiary of Global Aviation Holdings began operating aircraft for Nigeria's ANA-Allied Air in October 2008.

"World Airways is pleased to build on its existing relationship with ANA-Allied to further serve the needs of their business partners in Europe and in Africa with an additional MD-11 Freighter," said Global Aviation cargo sales chief Hendrik Falk.

Allied Air CEO Val Tongo, said he was pleased with the fleet expansion. At the same time, he highlighted that Lagos, one of ANA-Allied's primary destinations, is developing as a very efficient and secure cargo gateway.

"The expansion of our MD-11F fleet as well as our investment in the only on-airport secure transit facility is offering our clients the very highest levels of service, and will make Allied Air a leading African cargo airline of the future," Captain Tongo said.
