Jun 29, 2010 Logistics

LUFTHANSA has started a new cargo service from northeastern Chinese city of Tianjin to Frankfurt, Xinhua reported.

This is Lufthansa's first service connecting north China and Europe, using MD-11 freighter that is able to carry up to 95 tonnes. The line offers two flights per week and will be upgraded to five or more according to market response.

Lufthansa invested on the Tianjin Air Cargo Terminal in 2007 and has been operating the Shanghai-Frankfurt cargo service before launch of the new service. Lufthansa also cooperates with Air China on freighter and aircraft belly cargo business via code sharing.
